Do the Extraordinary Arrives in Downtown Seattle (Launch Party Tonight!)
Remember the old European Antiques store that was around forever on the corner of 6th & Olive? Local entrepreneur Justin Kercher, with backing from former Seahawk Shaun Alexander, have transformed the 6,000sf space into the flagship store for Do the Extraordinary (DTE.)
Having opened its first brick and mortar location on Tacoma's Pacific Avenue just over a year ago, DTE brings its handmade approach to clothing manufacturing to the Downtown Seattle core, uniquely juxtaposed by the international clothing chains surrounding its location.
"Ninety-eight percent of the US's clothes and shoes today are manufactured overseas,” said Kercher. “We have a tremendous opportunity to put ourselves right here in the heart of big retail, in the heart of fast fashion, and say, 'You know what? We're offering beautiful clothing that is made right here.'"
Kercher originally presented the brand idea to Alexander during the All-Pro running back’s playing days.
Alexander supplied his marketing insight and name, and Kercher developed the product line and graphic branding. "Our goal with DTE is to grow a lifestyle brand focused on quality over quantity, longevity over novelty." says Kercher. "Opening our second storefront in the fastest growing metropolitan in America is an exciting milestone in our growth."
The 6th Ave. location officially opened its doors on Sept. 15, and TONIGHT there's a grand opening celebration featuring live music, a runway show unveiling the DTE Fall/Winter collection and performances by local artists Nyoka and the BGP.
