My Thanksgiving Hero
La Brea Bakery's 'Nominate a Thanksgiving Hero' contest is in full swing, and this week I wanted to share my family's Thanksgiving Hero in the mix.
For as many family members as we've got (I'm the oldest of 28 grandchildren on my mom's side), we are very fortunate to be able to get together on Thanksgiving Day. Most of us have the day off, but my uncle Ulysses remains on call this holiday and so I'm nominating him for La Brea Bakery's Thanksgiving Hero.
While you're planning out your Thanksgiving dishes this month, think of someone in your life who you know regularly works on Thanksgiving serving others. That could be a local firefighter, waiter, retail employee or someone else in the service industry. Nominate them to be one of La Brea Bakery's Thanksgiving Heroes, and they could get a fully catered meal delivered to them on Thanksgiving Day!
Submit an entry on La Brea Bakery's Facebook page (make sure you're on the Photo Contest tab) and create a submission that includes:
- Your first & last name;
- Your zip code;
- Your email address;
- 100 words or less telling about your family member that you're unable to share Thanksgiving dinner with;
- and at least one photo showing both you and your family member.
Submissions must be received by November 15th, 2015. Finalists will be announced on November 17th, 2015, and the public will then have a chance to vote for their favorites through November 20th, 2015.
