Achieving Brow Goals with High Brow Seattle Microblading

If you grew up in the 90s like me, chances are you over-plucked your eyebrows in favor of the pencil-thin brow trend that dominated our junior/high school years. That left us ill-equipped for the future (read: today) where a full, luscious brow that's now in favor.

For those of us who are feeling the brow struggle, microblading has come to the rescue. Never heard of microblading? It's a semi-permanent process of tattooing, with a specialized pen and pigment. The pigment is deposited into the skin via tiny hair strokes drawn to mimic your natural hair growth patterns.

My friend Jessica learned how to microblade while working with physicians and dermatologists during her time fulfilling nursing program pre-requisites - so her background is more medical than cosmetology. She's got a couple of years of experience now, transforming the brows of many women into beautiful, full, symmetrical masterpieces.

I went in to get my brows done about two weeks ago, and most of my thoughts were centered around how much it would hurt. I have a couple of tattoos and those hurt like a bitch. As sweet as Jess was in assuring me it wouldn't hurt, I had a hard time believing it. Luckily she was right!

My appointment lasted about two and a half hours but Jess always books three just in case. Most of the appointment is actually spent on stenciling and drawing out the brow shape, and figuring out the right pigment color. After all that, she put on a topical numbing cream on my brows, and before I knew it, my brows were so full and so dreamy! I felt some pressure, but the most nerve-wracking part of the process was hearing the scraping of the pen.

Here's a handy look below at what the timeline looks like once you leave the studio. I'm in the midst of the healing process now and my brows have just passed the scabbing phase. They are definitely much lighter, but I can already see the pigment color coming back as my skin regenerates. I go in for my touch up at the end of this month.
