Imagine arriving at your hotel and being greeted with a drink at check-in. At the Moxy Seattle - newly opened in South Lake Union - a drink when you check in is par for the course!
The Moxy Seattle invited a few bloggers to spend the night in its second weekend of operation, and it was a short but sweet stay.
Moxy is part of the Marriott’s line of hotels. I like to think of it as the younger, no-nonsense little sister of the Marriott. If you’re into boutique hotels with fewer frills, this is a great option for your stay in the city. There are also Moxys all over the world, and more are opening up as we speak.
At the Moxy Seattle, the lobby and rooms pay tons of homage to Pacific Northwest design while maintaining the Moxy flavor. The bar is the centerpiece of the lobby (it also serves as the registration desk) and there’s plenty of seating and lounge areas, with board games, card games, a see-saw, and a giant fireplace for you to maximize offline social time.
Jerry Stotler, “Captain” of the Moxy Seattle and also the unofficial mayor of South Lake Union, gave us the lowdown on the hotel while we enjoyed various naan dishes and cocktails.
While there’s no full-service restaurant in the hotel, the bar has a menu of naan dishes, a few other light snacks, and a grab-and-go stand that features local vendors like Beecher’s and Healeo juice. If you’re ordering at the bar, I recommend the Got Moxy cocktail and the breakfast naan!
You can also take advantage of all the restaurants that SLU has to offer; we went to Ba Bar next door for dinner that night (Ba Bar is one of our favorites in the city!)
Our corner room was cozy (~205 sq. ft) but was laid out nicely and didn’t feel cramped with two of us there. The bed was comfy af; I had a really great night’s sleep! If you’re into it, there’s a Bedtime Stories button on the rotary phone in each room with tales from The Blonde Abroad and other travel influencers. I loved the matte black fixtures and subway tiling in the bathroom. In these smaller spaces, it really is about these kinds of details!
The Moxy Seattle is located in the heart of South Lake Union, a short streetcar ride or longish walk to Pike Place Market, Seattle Center, Capitol Hill, and most of the theaters and museums.
It’s also in the heart of Amazonland, with WeWork South Lake Union, Facebook, Microsoft, Tommy Bahama, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, the Gates Foundation and more just outside the doors. The neighborhood is pretty busy during the day but is nice and quiet with plenty of street parking at night.
From now until April 30th, you can mention me or show this Instagram below at the bar at Moxy Seattle for 50% off your tab! Enjoy a drink for me!
