Seattle: The Runaway is Now Open on Capitol Hill!
Moe Bar was one of my favorite bars, but after a decade the time had come for a much-needed remodel. After closing Moe quietly at the end of last year, today the Neumos Group opened the doors to The Runaway.
The name is a nod to the seminal band, The Runaways, and the spirit of Joan Jett. Embracing that spirit, the bar is designed in graphic black and white collages of past shows and satin black paint offset with rich wood tones, 70’s spaghetti lamps, basil green upholstery and plush tufted chairs and bar stools. A DJ booth has been carved out of the upstairs space above the back booth.
The Runaway is proud to feature installments by two of Seattle's finest artists, photos from photographer Coco Foto and Jennifer Ament's 80's guitar print adorn the bar in a full wrap.
The bar is serving new signature cocktails and an additional two on-tap, all created by Seattle bartender Veronika Groth. Other beverage options include 16 taps offering a selection of beer, cider, wine, and a full back bar.
The drinks are designed to complement the Cuban food now available to order at The Runaway from locally renowned Paseo (which opened in the old Pike Street Fish Fry next door) from 4:00p.m. - 10:00p.m. daily.
Moe Bar lives on in spirit, but The Runaway is a great spot to grab an after-work or pre-dinner drink, or to start your night before heading to (also newly remodeled) Neumos or Barboza for a show. Check out the events calendar for all three venues at Neumos.com.
