Lookbook Love: Kenneth Cole S/S '13 (+ A MAGICal Opportunity!)
This style season, there's no trend I've been loving more than good ol' black and white. Everyone's got a good number of black and white pieces in their closet, and this time around the focus is much more around pulling together textures, prints and shapes in ways that truly make your features shine.
The iconic (and often controversial) Kenneth Cole's spring/summer '13 collection perfectly captures all that I love about this trend. Stripes and sheers in delicate fabrics that drape so freaking effortlessly; tons of black and white with some baroque gold mixed in - when I saw this lookbook I may have gasped and made this face:
Whenever I share these lookbooks, I always keep it real and picture myself in the famously ever-changing Seattle / Pacific Northwest climate. Can I wear these pieces when it's 80 degrees and I'm hanging on a rooftop or boat, and will it hold up if it gets cold 5 minutes later? More importantly, will I be alright if it rains? Most importantly, will I look good regardless of the weather? :P Simon Doonan said it best when he described Seattle as a mix of "style, practicality, and a bit of Bohemian." So for me, Kenneth Cole's latest lookbook is a whole lot of "yes, yes and yes."
And now, for the MAGIC!
I have the opportunity to win a spot on WWD (magazine) / MAGIC (Market Week) blogger team! For those of you who may not be familiar, MAGIC Market Week takes place every February and August in Las Vegas. Fashion buyers come in from all over the world to pick and choose amongst the brands you know and love (and some you don't know you love yet) for the things you'll see in your favorite stores and sites in upcoming seasons. Every season, a team of bloggers converge to cover the marketplace, blogging and more straight from the tradeshow floor. You can help get me there in August! I promise to share many Instagrams, videos, tweets and other gems full of that witty, informative and hopefully helpful Fresh Jess you've come to know.
Like what you see? Please tweet this post out and help me out!
THANK YOU! I appreciate you eternally.
