A Break From Wedding Planning at Suncadia Resort
/One thing I'll always love about Seattle is how you don't have to go far to get away, even for a night. Jacob and I took a break from the stresses of work and wedding planning for an overnight stay at Suncadia, which is a quick (hour and a half) drive east of the city.
This was our first time at the Cle Elum, WA resort, and we quickly found ourselves wishing we'd stayed a couple of extra nights to absorb all that Suncadia has to offer. The outdoors call to you as soon as you set foot in The Lodge to check in; from straight through the wall of windows in the cavernous lobby.
We had a bit of time before dinner to explore the trails and the river - and to climb up and down the 1,000 Steps! We stopped by the Swim & Fitness Center to check out the gym, dance studio, pool, and the water slides. There's a small lake behind it where you can fish, too! I'm bummed we didn't get to spend any time there beyond that. Next stay, for sure!
September just so happens to be National Yoga Month, so we were able to truly unplug, relax and restore by taking advantage of the Wellness Package offered in honor of Yoga Month. This special included access to yoga sessions led by yogis from around the region, a 50-minute complimentary signature facial at Glade Spring Spa, a 2-4 hour bike rental and of course, overnight accommodations.
We took part in Glow (in the dark) yoga after dinner at Portals, as well as Sunrise Yoga at The Inn the next morning. We loved the fresh, local fare at Portals so much that we came back for brunch the next day! I will say, I don't recommend dinner before yoga. If you're too full, be careful about stretching out so much! Haha! I was lucky enough to come out of Glow Yoga stretched out, refreshed and without any food trauma. In fact, Jacob and I ran out to catch the end of s'mores by the village firepit - because what else would we do after yoga? :)
After Sunrise Yoga was a nice, leisurely walk through the Inn and by the golf course. There is so much space to golf at Suncadia! It almost makes me want to pick up a new hobby.
I stole away to Glade Spring Spa for the signature facial and some time in the saunas and salt soaks before we headed back into the city. I could really get used to a life where spas are a very regular occurrence. It was hard to leave the serenity!
Thank you Suncadia for having us! These quick little getaways are lifesavers in the midst of wedding planning and strict work project deadlines. We are so grateful!
